First ScotRail Depot Shields Glasgow

Foreman Roberts were appointed by Siemens Transportation to provide MEP Consulting Services for the First ScotRail traincare facility in Shields Glasgow. Foreman Roberts were, with the other members of the design team, responsible for securing ‘Form A’ approval of the scheme from Network Rail. The traincare facility includes a new “3 road, 4 car” 25000Volt overhead line depot with full length maintenance pits, together with a bogie drop unit, stores and workshop areas which is being built on the existing First ScotRail Shields ETD site. Externally the existing sidings are being modified to allow for the new depot and new CET (controlled emission toilet) installation. A new double headed wheel lathe contained in a separate dedicated building is also being provided to replace the existing facility which currently occupies the location of the new depot. Offices associated with the new depot facility are provided as an integral part of the new depot facility. Client: Siemens
